Teay's River Pub and Brewery
Lafayette, IN
2019
After several years of corporate restaurant ownership and management, our client decided to venture into craft brewing and the local dining movement, two areas that have become increasingly popular over the last several years. The story behind the restaurant name is as interesting as the menu options. According to the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources, the Teays River was an ancient stream, comparable in size to the modern Ohio River, that once drained much of the east-central United States. It was destroyed by the glacial expansion during the Pleistocene Ice Age approximately 2 million years ago. Maps indicate that the river traveled thru the Lafayette area.
The combination of historical context and creative excitement helped inform and guide several design decisions. The result is a unique interior design that blends natural stone, rich wood detailing, selective lighting and artistic wall coverings. The food and drink menu will rotate based upon availability of products but one thing will be consistent - the quality and care to create a comfortable dining environment for all.
